Just after World War II, it appeared possible that farming would remain more or less as it had in the past, though with an improved quality of life.

Jane and Jim Adams sit on an old barn foundation; Jane holds a lamb. Just across the pasture, Oak Ridge School remained in use. The two WPA (Works Progress Administration) outhouses are visible, the one on the left for boys, the one closer to the school house for girls.

The school consolidated with the Ava grade school in 1949.
